Top 10 E3 2011 game trailers and demos

by Robert Mullins

Having done our E3 preview top 10 a couple of days back, we thought we'd also put together this top 10 of our favourite videos so far - so you don't have to trawl around YouTube for them. We've got the best bits, in our opinions, from the Microsoft and Sony conferences, plus the best trailers and in-game demos. Where possible we've embedded the videos here, but you may need to click through for the HD versions. Apologies for any pre-roll adverts.

1. PlayStation Vita

Previously known as the Next-Generation-Portable, the PlayStation Vita is the Ferrari of the handheld world. It's not small, but with a big 5in OLED screen and twin analogue sticks, this could be the console that takes genres like the FPS and makes them truly portable. Plus its adds an innovative rear-mounted touch pad.

We'll leave this particularly self-triumphant video to do the rest of the talking. With features and upcoming games both covered.

Pretty cool eh? And with pricing at around £250 and a release date before Christmas, we can see this being the sell-out gift come the end of the year.

2. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

We were expecting a lot from Skyrim at E3, but some of the footage coming out is still pretty astounding. The link below explains the new dual-handed weapons and magic system, plus the new dragon shout abilities (very handy, if you'll excuse the pun, as they can be used while your hands are full of other weapons).

There's also some classic dungeon-based action, familiar from previous games, but hold out for an epic brawl at the end, starting with mammoths and giants and then dragons get stuck in too. Awesome stuff.
